ABOUT ME
I live and breathe cycling. Having raced at first cat level I was fortunate to represent Ireland as both a rider and national team mechanic.
With a background in Mechanical Engineering, in 1999 alongside my school friend Ray Clarke I set up Worldwide Cycles, a successful bike shop in Clonmel, where for 15 years my interest in bike fitting developed and blossomed. I then went on to study under Tony Corke in the University of Bath where my skills were refined further and formal qualifications were attained with distinction.
In 2014, I set up Sean Kelly Cycling, a cycle clothing and corporate event management company with my childhood hero and 5 time World number 1 professional cyclist Sean Kelly.
I also work with INEOS as a consultant on bicycle procurement, mechanics and bike fitting.
My personal blog, thecyclingblog.com has been one of the most popular cycling blogs in Ireland for many years now.
I ride at least one of my bikes pretty much every day in many varied and sometimes unusual ways. I have won a category in the RAS, climbed the height of Mount Everest in 16 hours and have cycled the length of Ireland, 593km in 21 hours, but am just as happy sauntering along the greenway with my family. Experiences like these have provided me with a very diverse insight into many different types of issues and problems that cyclists of all shapes, sizes and abilities suffer from. This experience is part of what enables me to understand and solve any ache, pain or performance issue that you might be having.
With over 20 years of experience of bike fitting and over 30 years experience of bicycle mechanics I have a deep understanding of how to assimilate the body and the bike in the most functional and practical way possible.
